Clementine Meier

RICEVILLE, IOWA — Clementine Meier died on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. She was 89 years of age.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 21, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville with burial in Calvary Cemetery at Riceville.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Conway Funeral Home in Riceville, with a 3 p.m. rosary and a 4 p.m. vigil service.

Clementine Beatrice Meier was born in Howard County, Iowa on April 26, 1918, the daughter of Lewis and Louise (Shimek) Maravetz.

On June 18, 1940, Clementine was united in marriage to Arnold Meier at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Lourdes. After their marriage, they farmed north of Elma.

Clementine is survived by her three children: Eugene of Decorah, Dorothy (Lawrence) Schmitt of Riceville, and Allen (Ellen) of Mason City; four grandsons; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marjorie (Leo) Weber of Charles City and Evelyn (Richard) Nicholson of Osage; two brothers, Arnold Maravetz of Elma, and Raphael (Anna) Maravetz of Riceville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arnold on Jan. 22, 2005; and sister-in-law, Bernie Maravetz.
