ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Benjamin R. Boerjan, age 80, of St. Ansgar, died Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Olmsted county, Minnesota.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. rosary.

Benajmin R. Boerjan was born Dec. 6, 1916, at Plymouth, Cerro Gordo county, Iowa.

Survivors include two daughters, Myrna Hrubetz, Prescott, Wis., and Gwen Reiss, Ellendale, Minn.; two sons, Roger of St. Ansgar, and Gary of San Dimas, Calif.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Heitland; and two brothers, George and John, both of St. Ansgar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, one granddaughter, one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 22, 1997 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, for Benjamin R. Boerjan, 90 of St. Ansgar. Reverend Dennis Cahill officiated and burial was in the St. Ansgar Cemetery. He died Wednesday, March 19, 1997 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Rochester, Minnesota.

Ben was born December 6, 1916 in Plymouth, Iowa, the son of August and Mary (Baker) Boerjan.

He married Gertrude Amelia Borchardt on September 10, 1938, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage.

He was in the real estate business. Ben was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage, Lions Club, Board of Realtors, National Rifle Association, Arbor Foundation, was a 4-H leader and helped organize the Town and Country Barbeque in Osage.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Gertrude; one daughter, Jackie; one granddaughter, Shawn Hrubetz Henderson, one sister, Ida Taets and two brothers, Hank and Frank Boerjan.

Survivors include two daughters, Myrna Hrubetz of Prescott, Wisconsin and Gwen Reiss of Ellendale, Minnesota; two sons, Roger of St. Ansgar and Gary of San Dimas, California; seven grandchildren; one sister, Minnie Heitland; and two brothers, George and John Boerjan both of St. Ansgar.
