Dale J. `Bucky' Heimer

STACYVILLE, IOWA - Dale J. ''Bucky'' Heimer, 43, of Stacyville, died on Friday, February 7, 1997, in a helicopter accident in Tasmania, Australia.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at Visitation Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Schneider and the Rev. John Hemann officiating. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday at Hatten & Sons Funeral Home, with a Scripture service.

Dale Heimer was born on June 27, 1953, in Osage, the son of Jerome and Joan (Loecher) Heimer. He attended schools in Stacyville, and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1971.

He was united in marriage to Sydney Grinstead on July 29, 1972, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Osage. Dale was the owner of Bawek's Shoe and Clothing Store of Stacyville since 1974. He was a former Stacyville city councilman, past president of the Stacyville Community Club, a member of the Stacyville Volunteer Fire Department, and was active in the Catholic Foresters and Knights of Columbus.

He was also employed as a helicopter pilot for Northland Helicopter of Stacyville and most recently for Scott's Helicopter in LeSeuer, Minn. At the time of his death, he was employed by Osborne Aviation Services of Tasmania, Australia, as an agricultural helicopter pilot.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sydney, of Stacyville; a son, Jason, of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Laura, of Nora Springs; his parents, Jerome and Joan Heimer, of Garner; brothers, Dwaine Heimer and his wife, Karen, of Stacyville; and Daryl Heimer of Garner; sisters, Joellen Johnson and her husband, Randy, of Olympia, Wash.; Joyce Morud and her husband, David, of Nora Springs; Julie Bruns and her husband, Bob, of Garner; and Corrine Heimer of Alton; in-laws, James and Barbara Grinstead of Osage; brothers-in-law, Brian Grinstead and his wife, Deb, of Osage; and Bradley Grinstead and his wife, Connie, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; special friends, Mike and Becky Meek of Stacyville; and 11 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and one infant brother.
