ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Edwin W. Steinberg, 92, died Monday (March 9, 2009) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Rock Township, Osage.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 13, at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.

ST. ANSGAR, IOWA -- Edwin W. Steinberg, 92, died Monday, March 9, 2009 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, Osage. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar with Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Rock Township, Osage, IA. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.

Edwin was born April 5, 1916 at the family farm home, son Emil Frank & Selma (Wilde) Steinberg. He attended country school 1 mile south of his house. On June 4, 1939, he married Evelyn Kruger. To this union 2 children were born, Frederick Dean and Carol Ann. Evelyn passed away on May 18, 1953.

On June 7, 1958, he married Maxine (Greiner) Nelson. To this union 1 son was born, David.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Ansgar. Edwin enjoyed farming, playing cards and spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Maxine, sons Frederick (Karen) Steinberg, David (Elaine) Steinberg, daughter Carol (Buck) Jones, grandchildren Brian (Tori) Steinberg, Bruce (Meagan) Steinberg, Steven (Toby) Jones, Jason (Rosemary) Jones, Jessica, Jeremiah, Joshua, Jackson Steinberg. Great-grandchildren Gregory, Kayley, Riley Steinberg, Alianna Jones, Step-Great-grandchildren: Christian, Haley, Madison; Sister-in-law Vanita (Robert) Wilson, brother-in-law Bud Greiner, nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Evelyn, sister Laurina Perau, 4 brother-in-law and 2 nieces.
