RICEVILLE, IOWA - Edith M. Ring, 82, of Riceville, died Thursday (Jan. 16, 1997) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Conway Funeral Home and an hour prior to services at the church.

Edith M. Ring was born on September 18, 1914, at Rose Hill.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence; three sons, William Ring of Manly; Richard Jones of Lodi, Wis., and Thomas Jones of Guam, USA.; two daughters, Linda Kinneman of Riceville, and Beverly Valencic of Waukegan, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Bill Denney of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two grandchildren, three brothers and one sister.

Edith Ring, 82, died Thursday, January 16, 1997, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Edith Maxine Ring was born September 18, 1914 at Rose Hill, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Daisy (Perkins) Denney. She attended the Oskaloosa Elementary School, moved to Howard county and finsihed her schooling at the Oakdale Township School near LeRoy.

She was married to Richard Jones in 1930, and later married Clarence Ring, in 1947, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville. She belonged to the St. Peter's Lutheran Ladies Aid.

Edith loved to sew and made many things for her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid card player.

She is survived by her husband, Clarence; her children: Beverly Valencic of Waukegan, Illinois; Richard Jones and his wife, Bev, of Lodi, Wisconsin; Thomas Jones of Guam; William Ring and his wife, Cathy of Manly; and Linda Kinneman and her husband Larry of Riceville; a son-in-law, Edward Pichelman; 17 grandchildren: Dwayne Engelhardt of East China, Michigan; Taffy Pfaehler of Ranklin, Indiana; Sherrue Howells of Sycamore, Illinois; Tara Pichelman of Zion, Illinois; James and Gary Pichelman and Sheila Bennet of Waukegan, Illinois; Patrick Jones of Lodi, Wisconsin; Joey and Timothy Jones of Guam; Landon and Christopher Ring, Manly; Shannon Fritcher, Byron, Minnesota; Shawn Fritcher, Brookings, South Dakota; Heidi Fritcher of Waverly; Holly Fritcher, Mason City; and Lacey Kinneman of Riceville; and 16 great-grandchidlren and one brother, Bill Denney and his wife edith of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patricia Pichelman, a son, Herbert Jones; two grandchildren, Robert Engelhardt and Nancy Williams; he sister, Ethel Armstrong; and three brothers, Clifford Denney, Homer (Bud) Denney and Thomas Denney, Jr.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, Janaury 20, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Riceville, with burial in St. Peter's Luthean Cemetery south of Riceville. Rev. M. Versemann presided.

Casket bearers were her grandsons. Conway Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
