Mary E. Deegan
RICEVILLE, IOWA - Mary E. Deegan, 92, of Riceville, passed away Monday, December 16, 1996, at the Riceville Community Rest Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Herschel Hawf officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Lindstrom Funeral Home.
Mary was born on August 29, 1904, in Halifax, England, daughter of Johans and Emma (Jenken) Priestley.
She was united in marriage to William Thomas Deegan in 1940 at the Catholic Rectory in Riceville. Mary was a homemaker and assisted her husband in farming, until their retirement.
Survivors include her son, Thomas and his wife, Madeline, of Riceville; one grandson, William Deegan of Mason City; one sister, Florence Lewis, and a brother, Roland Priestley, both of Puget Sound, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, "Bill" on January 19, 1996; a son, Charles Sooter; two brothers, Leonard and Johans; and two sisters, Shirley and Katy.
