Larry A. Troe

BRISBANE, Calif. — Larry A. Troe, 59, formerly of Carpenter, Iowa, passed away on Independence Day (July 4, 2005) after an incredible four year battle with lung cancer.

He was born on Sept. 19, 1945, to Lawrence and Adeline (Lundene) Troe; baptized and confirmed at Deer Creek Lutheran Church in rural Carpenter.

He attended school in Carpenter until he joined the U.S. Navy in 1964. He served in the Navy from 1964 to 1968 and was a Vietnam veteran.

In 1970, he moved to Brisbane, Calif., where he worked as a diesel mechanic.

On July 13, 1986, he married Peggy Sage in California and they raised two daughters, Rhiannon and Betsy, both of Brisbane.

Larry was a loving husband, proud father and a true friend. His family was always first in his life. He always had an opinion, loved to discuss politics and hated to be alone.

Larry will be sadly missed by his wife, Peggy; daughters, Rhiannon and Betsy, of Brisbane, Calif.; his brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Marlys Troe, of Lake Mills; their children, Renea Hagen (Troy) of Twin Lakes, Minn., Barry Troe, of Thompson, and Meridee Ansel (Mark) of Kanawha; niece, Terri (Lee) Holst, of Albert Lea, Minn.; nephews, Traci Thomsen, of Forest City, and Dean Christianson, of Northwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Adeline Troe; sister and brother-in-law, LaVonne and Carlyle (Curt Thompson); sister, Donna Christianson; and great-niece, Nichole O'Bryne.

At Larry's request, he was cremated and there was no memorial service.
