Irene Quinn
RICEVILLE, IOWA — Irene Quinn, 73, of Riceville passed away Tuesday (June 28, 2005) at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., after a 15-year battle with cancer. Mass of Resurrection will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville, with the Rev. Ray E. Atwood officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Riceville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville with a rosary at 5 p.m. and Scripture service at 7 p.m.
Irene was born June 18, 1932, at Pettibone (Kidder County) N.D. She was the youngest of five children born to Harry Milo Morse and Rose Roenna Neubauer Morse. Irene was affectionately called Tudy Morse by her family and friends in her younger years.
She married Bernard Quinn in Waterloo, Iowa, on Nov. 17, 1951. To this union one child was born; a son, Dan J. After their return from the service, they settled in Riceville, where Irene was employed by Riceville Veterinary Service for 32 years under many different veterinarians.
From 1998 to 2001, Irene was employed as clerk for the LeRoy Municipal Liquor store, LeRoy, Minn. In 2001, she started cashiering at Andy's Mini Mart in Riceville until the time of her death.
Irene spent her life devoted to her only child, son Dan J., and only grandchild, grandson Chad J. She loved the phrase Quinn's 3. Irene wanted to remembered by the phrase "I did the best I could." Irene will be remembered for her collection of pendant watches and was rarely seen without one. Irene enjoyed crocheting afghans. She was also an avid reader and had collected a library of hardcover books.
Survivors include her grandson, Chad J., and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard in 1987; son, Dan J. in 2001; brothers, Wesley, Harold and Wayne; and her only sister, Lorraine.
