TOETERVILLE, IOWA — Stanley C. Loland, 79, of Toeterville, died Saturday (Jan. 7, 2006) at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville with the Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar.

Stanley was born on March 12, 1926, to Soren and Christine (Ellingson) Loland in Worth County near Northwood. He attended rural schools in Worth County and the Northwood High School.

In April 1945 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was a member of the 24th Infantry Division, where he served in Japan and was promoted to staff sergeant. He was honorably discharged in December 1946.

Stanley married Lillian Seuser of Gordonsville, Minn., on April 16, 1948. They lived most of their married life in Toeterville.

Stan owned and operated his own grain trucking business and retired in 1989.

Stan and Lil enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling in their motor home. He was known for his sense of humor and was particular about the care and appearance of his vehicles, especially his truck.

He was a member of the Osage VFW and St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Margaret Brunsvold and Dora Dahl; and brother Jacob Loland.

Stan is survived by his wife, Lillian, of Toeterville; his children, Christine Heiden, of Aberdeen, S.D.; Kathy Millard (Jeff), of Garner; Kim Mogk, of Grafton; nine grandchildren, Joshua and Jessica Heiden, Kelsey, Lisa, Joey and Mikah Millard, Samantha and Randy Mogk, and Bowen Peterson; one sister, Ruth Winkleman of Northwood; and many nieces and nephews.
