ST. ANSGAR, IOWA - Otto H. Tesch, 91, of St. Ansgar, died on Saturday (Jan. 21, 2006) at the Good Samaritan Center in St. Ansgar.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the First Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Robert Porisch officiating. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetery with military rites by the Walter T. Enneberg Post 358 of the American Legion.

Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in St. Ansgar.

Otto was born on Oct. 9, 1914, in Toeterville, to Otto E. and Mathilda (Groth) Tesch. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville. He attended school in Toeterville until the eighth grade, when he started to help on the family farm.

Otto married Irma Kleinwort on June 6, 1937. They lived all their married lives at two different locations in St. Ansgar. Otto served in the U. S. Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he entered into trucking, retiring at the age of 84 in 1998. Otto enjoyed his tinkering and also the pastime of socializing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irma; three brothers, twins in infancy and Alvin Tesch; five sisters, Matie Torney, Elsie Decklever, Agnes Decklever, Betty Rohne and Margaret Murphy.

Otto is survived by three daughters, Virginia Boerjan of St. Ansgar, Roberta Krumweide of Council Bluffs and Vivian Lampe of Lenexa, Kansas; one son, Don Tesch of St. Ansgar; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mathilda Olsen of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., and one brother, Rudy Tesch of St. Ansgar.
