OSAGE, IOWA - Evelyn Catherine Gabby, age 84, of Osage, died on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, at her daughter's home in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, of complications from lung cancer.
Evelyn was born on August 27, 1924, in Ionia, Iowa, the daughter of Jack and Violet Klassen.
In 1954, Evelyn was united in marriage to R. Dale Gabby in Osage. She was a homemaker while raising her children. Later, Evelyn worked for Fox River Mills.
All who knew Evelyn's love for family, friends and dance can be comforted with those memories.
Evelyn was dearly loved by her family and friends, and will be remembered in their hearts forever.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with the Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 5:45 p.m.
Evelyn is survived by her six children, Kathy (Tom) McWhite, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Kevin Gabby and Leanne of Andover, Minnesota, Kenneth (Julie) Gabby of Byron, Minnesota, Renee Gabby and Dave of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Nancy (Dominic) Alfonso of Eagan, Minnesota, Jeffrey (Pam) Gabby of Urbandale; 12 grandchildren; her three brothers, Bob (Betty) Klassen, of Ventura, Jack (Greta) Klassen of Duluth, Minnesota, and Jerry (Vi) Klassen, of Belvidere, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; and her sister, Mary Lou Fredericks.
