OSAGE, IOWA — Jacky Maakestad, 68, of Osage, died Friday (August 6, 2004) at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, with the Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Interment will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Champion–Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and will continue one hour before services at the church on Monday.

Jacky was born December 14, 1935, in Zearing, Iowa, the daughter of John Hildreth and Ruth Justine (Bretthauer) Snowgren. She graduated from June Senior High in Marshalltown, Iowa. Jacky then attended the University of Iowa. While there she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Following college, Jacky taught music in the Osage, Mitchell and Orchard schools.

On March 18, 1960, she was united in marriage to Edwin J. Maakestad. An active member of Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Jacky belonged to the Rachel Circle and taught Cherub Choir for 34 years. She was also involved in numerous local musical events.

Jacky is survived by her husband, Edwin Maakestad of Osage; her father, John Snowgren of Osage; daughter, Nicole Maakestad of Des Moines; son, Jon Maakestad of North Liberty; and two grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her mother.
