CARPENTER, IOWA — Phyllis Ann Nicholson Mashaney’s celebration of life ended July 12, 2004, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., after a battle with cancer.
Phyllis was born in Osage, Iowa on October 3, 1945, to Harold “Colonel” Nicholson and Ina (Anderson) Nicholson of Carpenter, Iowa. She was a lifelong member of Deer Creek Lutheran Church, where she was baptized, confirmed and married.
As a child she attended Carpenter consolidated schools for 11 years and graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1963.
She was united in marriage to Don Edward Mashaney on June 29, 1974. Phyllis had an endless love and devotion to her family. Her adventurous spirit enabled her to capture many of life’s splendors and her warm personality touched many lives. Phyllis expressed her love with an open heart and a willing ear. She took joy in sharing her creativity and life long passion for cooking and entertaining. She used her talents to add a unique flair to all family occasions and everyday life.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Don Edward Mashaney, of Carpenter; three wonderful daughters, Clarissa Nicholson of Reinbeck, Megan (Jerry) Mashaney Bublitz of Carpenter, and Carrie (Brandon) Mashaney Wicks of Seattle, Wash.; and three adorable, beautiful grandchildren, Cole, Christian and Madyson.
Also surviving are her mother, Ina Nicholson Gould, of Stacyville; her sisters, Yvonne (Melvin) Albrecht of LeRoy, Minn., Sharon Wilder Hintz of Dixon, Ill., and Nancy Harvey of Stuart, Fla.; her brother, Harold (Andrea) Nicholson Jr. of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; and many, many cherished and beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and family friends.
Phyllis is proceeded in death by her father, Harold Nicholson Sr.
Her final farewell will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Deer Creek Lutheran Church in Carpenter.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar.
