OSAGE, IOWA — Mary E. Johnson, 70, of Osage, died Thursday (May 27, 2004) at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Mary was born April 12, 1934, in Rockford, the daughter of Luke and Alberta (Hiltabidel) Collins. She was educated in schools in Rockford and Mason City.

Mary was united in marriage to Dean Johnson on July 5, 1970, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. She was employed for many years as a waitress at the Troika in Mason City.

Mary was a member of the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, where she was involved in Circle, Ladies Aid, and was a Sunday School teacher. She enjoyed cake decorating, shopping, cards, following her grandchildren’s activities, and traveling. Mary always made you feel welcome. Her kitchen was always open, as was her heart, to friends and family. Mary faced her death as she did her life — with strength and fortitude.

Mary is survived by her husband, Dean Johnson, of Osage; son, David Johnson, of Charles City; daughter, Helen Burrington and her husband, Ken, of Corwith; grandchildren: Adrian, Lucas, Eric, Zachary, Jacob and Laurel; great-grandson, Mason; sister, Michele Guldberg, of South Bend, Ind., and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Ave. in Osage, with the Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. Interment will be in the Rock Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.

Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, (641) 732-3706.
