OSAGE, IOWA — Raymond Joseph Power, 65, of Osage, died on Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at home after a long battle with cancer.

Ray was born in Elma, Iowa, on September 17, 1938, to George C. and Helena (Boehmer) Power. He graduated from Osage High School, then served four years in the Navy.

In 1963, he was united in marriage to Carol Wolff. They were blessed with seven wonderful children.

Ray was employed at Oliver-White Farms for 27 years. From 1983 to 1988, Raymond and Carol owned and operated a family restaurant in Scranton, Iowa.

Upon returning to Osage, he was employed with Adams Painting and Drywall until his retirement in 2000.

Raymond enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and working with his horses and dogs.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with the Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage with military honors at the graveside by Osage American Legion Post 278.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, where there will be a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 7:30 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Power, of Osage; seven children: Deanna Machin (Troy) of Osage, Sheila Adams (Dan) of St. Ansgar, Rachael Kimmey (Kenneth) of Virginia Beach, Va., Theresa Ahlf (Robert) of St. Ansgar, Rebecca Secrist and friend, Chuck Hurley, of Osage, Rodney Power of Osage, and Rhonda Muller (Larry) of Osage; 17 grandchildren, Anthony and wife, Emily, Wade, Amber and Ashley Machin; Derrick, Crystal and Heather Adams; Anna and Jessica Kimmey; Cory, Cylea and Caylin Ahlf; Jordan and Stephanie Ackerman and Trevor Secrist; Sophia and Owen Muller; two brothers, Cliff Powers of St. Ansgar, and Tom Powers (Zoe) of Kensett; two sisters, Donna Mae Mobley of Osage, and Sandra Bushbaum (Dallas) of Mason City; one sister-in-law, Bev Griga (Don) of St. Ansgar; numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helena Power; one brother, Roger Lee Power; one sister-in-law, Sue Powers; two brothers-in-law, Gary Wolff and Dick Mobley; his parents-in-law, Ted and Ruth Wolff.
