OSAGE, IOWA — Hedwig “Hattie” Lorenz, 97, of Osage, died Monday (Jan. 12, 2004) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
She was born Sept. 4, 1906, in Kensington, Kan., the daughter of the Rev. John and Matilda (Beckman) Gemaehlich. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by her father.
On Jan. 9, 1926, Hattie and M.R. “Ralph” Lorenz were united in marriage in Osage. To this union were born three daughters, Lois Moran, Eunice Anderson, and Janice Miller.
She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and its Past President’s Auxiliary.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Dennis Hanson and the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and will continue one hour before the service on Friday at the church.
She is survived by three daughters, Lois (Richard) Moran of Roscommon, Mich., Eunice (Kenneth) Anderson of Osage, and Janice (John) Miller of Sun City West, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 1974; six brothers, and two sisters.
