STACYVILLE, IOWA — Edmund Matthew Weber, 89, of Stacyville, died on Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home.
Edmund was born April 22, 1914, in Stacyville, the son of Joseph and Anna (Gilgenbach) Weber. He grew up and attended schools in Stacyville.
Edmund served in World War II. Following his discharge, he worked for Oliver-White Farm for 30 years until his retirement in April, 1978.
He was married to Virginia Rose Adams at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville on May 14, 1946. To this union was born three children, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Visit-ation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Father Mark Reasoner officiating. Interment will be in the Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville with military honors by Stacyville American Legion Post 569.
Visitation is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, where there will be a Scripture service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church Saturday.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Weber of Stacyville; three sons, Denny Weber and his wife, Linda, of Cedar Rapids and their children: Chad Weber and Nicole Kemp; Tom Weber of Robins, and Don Weber and his wife, Sue, of Stacyville, and their children: Jackie Hanna and Chris Weber; one sister, Theresa Blake of Stacyville; two brothers, Leo Weber and his wife, Marge, of Charles City and Sylvester Weber of Marshalltown; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Kenneth Weber, Gilbert Weber, and Al (Shorty) Weber.
