MITCHELL, IOWA — Helen Marie Curin Mostek Winterton, 95, of Fulton, Illinois, and formerly of Mitchell and Osage, died Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at the Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, Illinois.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Ansgar Catholic Church in St. Ansgar, with the Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, where there will be a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before services Saturday at the church.

Helen Marie Curin Mostek Winterton

Funeral services for Helen Marie Curin Mostek Winterton, age 95, of Fulton, Illinois, and formerly of Mitchell and Osage were held Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at the St. Ansgar Catholic Church in St. Ansgar, with Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Interment was in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell. Helen died Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton, Illinois.

Helen was born March 27, 1908, in Mason City, Iowa, to Joseph and Barbara (Lukas) Curin. She was reared in Haugen, Wisconsin, Merrillan, Wisconsin and Mason City, Iowa.

She married Metthodeouse (Matt) George Mostek on January 30, 1926, in Mason City. He died on November 21, 1939. She lived in Mitchell, Iowa, from 1926 to 1955.

She married Alvie Bernie Winterton in 1943. He died November 14, 1990. She worked in the onion and cabbage fields from 1926 to 1955, then at the Farmer's Produce in Osage from 1955 to 1969 when she retired and moved to Clinton, Iowa to live with her daughter, Sandra Goodell.

From 1970 to 1986, she lived in Camanche, Iowa with Sandra and her husband Morrie Goodell. In 1986, she moved with them to Fulton, Illinois. From November 5, 2001 until her death, she resided at Harbor Crest Nursing Home in Fulton. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Metthodeouse (Matt) George Mostek and Alvie Bernie Winterton, one daughter Leona Larson, one son Leonard (Bud) Mostek, three sisters, Rosie Smith, Mary Leraaen, and Lucy Cullen and one brother Frank Curin.

She is survived by one daughter Sandra Goodell and husband Morrie Goodell of Fulton, Illinois; one daughter-in-law Dorothy Beyer of Mitchell; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, (641)732-3706, was in charge of arrangements.
