GEORGE FIRSCHING

STACYVILLE — George Firsching, 91, of Stacyville, died Friday (Oct. 3, 2003) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7:30 p.m. rosary.

STACYVILLE, IOWA - George Firsching, 91, of Stacyville, died on Friday (Oct. 3, 2003) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Care Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, with the Rev. Mark Reasoner officiating. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Visitation Catholic Church, with a rosary at 4 p.m. and at 7:30 p.m. Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of St. Ansgar, is in charge of arrangements.

George was born on Aug. 1, 1912, in St. Ansgar, to George and Theresa (Beiderer) Firsching.

He was united in marriage to Cordella Miller on Nov. 27, 1940, at St. Peters Church in Spring Grove, Illinois. He farmed all his life. He spent 15 years in Illinois. In 1956, they moved to Stacyville and retired to town in 1977.

George enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, traveling and being with family and friends. He enjoyed gardening and yard work at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Irma and Donna; a brother, Lawrence; and a sister, Margaret Schmitt.

George is survived by his wife, Cordella, of 62 years; a daughter, Karen Marsh and son-in-law, John, of Roseville, Minn.; a brother, Joe, of Mason City; five sisters: Laura Firsching and Theresa Ungaro, of San Pedro, Calif., Gert Retterath, of Austin, Minn., Alma Retterath and Rose Rauen, of Stacyville; and many nieces and nephews.
