OSAGE, IOWA — Rose A. Meyerhofer, 80, of Osage, died Tuesday (June 17, 2003) at Mitchell County Regional Health Center Emergency Room in Osage.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. After services cremation will take place and inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Osage.
Visitation is from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, where there will be a Rosary at 3 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m.
Rose was born on Jan. 21, 1923, in Wells, Minn., the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Fischer) Schmidt.
She was united in marriage to Clemence “Clem” Meyerhofer on April 9, 1947, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rose Creek, Minnesota. They farmed in the Stacyville area until their retirement in 1981 when they moved to Osage. Clem died on Aug. 15, 1998.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and active in the church choir and various church activities. Rose was an avid card player (Bridge & Canasta). She was also an avid baker who enjoyed sharing her baked goods. Her greatest joys were her family, faith and friends.
She is survived by four daughters, Sister Nancy Meyerhofer, of San Diego, Calif., Arlene Erickson (Lowell) of Kenyon, Minn.; Bea Young of Altadena, Calif.; Peggy Meyerhofer of Kenyon, Minn.; four sons, Nick Meyerhofer (Cheri) of Flagstaff, Ariz., Roger Meyerhofer (Wanda) of Owatonna, Minn., Ben Meyerhofer of Britt, and Andy Meyerhofer (Liz) of Osage; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Theresa Heimerman (John) of Blooming Prairie, Minn., Catherine Jenkins of Grapeview, Wash., Alice Bulson of Faribault, Minn., and Dorothy Swehla (Ron) of Prescott, Ariz; one brother, Ben Schmidt (Mary) of Owatonna, Minn.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, Clemence “Clem” Meyerhofer in 1998; four brothers, Carl, George, Joe and Tony Schmidt; one sister, Marie Theissen; and one son-in-law, James Young.
She will be missed by all those who she blessed with her love and joy for life.
