RICEVILLE, IOWA — Dale Irvin, 84, of Riceville, died Monday (March 17, 2003) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center Hospital in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville, with the Rev. Ray E. Atwood, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m.

Dale was born on May 9, 1918, in rural Acme, Iowa, to Arthur Chester and Harriet Seavy Irvin. He attended rural schools in the Acme area and graduated from Riceville High School in 1936. Dale joined his family in farming.

Dale was united in marriage to Jean (Marr) Irvin on March 5, 1946, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Riceville. Dale enjoyed time spent with his family, camping and traveling.
Dale worked as a sales representative to North Iowa Grain Equipment. He lived on the family farm until his retirement. In his retirement years, he hauled livestock until 1997.

Dale is survived by his wife, Jean, of Riceville; two sons, Larry and his wife, Clare, and Scott and his wife, Angie, all of Riceville; and a daughter, Carol, of Ankeny; three grandsons, Jared, of Riceville, Bryan, of New Ulm, Minn., and David, of Riceville; and one sister, Ione Stephens and her husband, Willis, of Fairfax, Va.; and nieces and nephews.

Preceding Dale in death are his parents; one brother, Adrian Irvin; and a sister, Lu Ann Saathoff.
