OSAGE, IOWA — Ralph P. Brumm, age 78, of Osage died Saturday (March 1, 2003) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Ralph was born April 11, 1924, in Stacyville, the son of Joseph and Sophia (Halbach) Brumm. He was educated and graduated from Visitation High School in Stacyville in 1941.
Ralph was united in marriage to Evelyn May on August 7, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer, Iowa. They farmed near Stacyville until 1954. They moved to a farm west of Osage, farming there until 1963. Ralph was a co-owner and operator of “Brumm & Canny Livestock” until 1971. He then drove semi for Mitchell Transport in Mason City for 15 years. In retirement he was a custodian for Home Trust and Savings Bank in Osage.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with the Rev. Philip Recker officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage where there will be a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a scripture service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart School in Osage or Catholic Charities.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Evelyn Brumm, of Osage; three sons, Michael (Janet) Brumm of Wayne, Neb.; Loren (Margaret) Brumm of Iowa City; Tom (Heather) Brumm of Ames; seven daughters; Lois (Rick) Przywojski of La Crosse, Wis., Cheryl Davis of Des Moines, Mary (Michael) Hughes of Brooklyn Center, Minn., Susan (Philippe) Fortin of Seekonk, Mass., Jeri (Bryan) Wheeler of Savage, Minn., Barbara (Larry) Vareberg of Rochester, Minn., Janelle (David) Kerr of Des Moines; two brothers, Clarence Brumm of Osage and Othmar Brumm of Stacyville; one sister, Joan Dworschak of Champaign, Ill.; and 23 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Martha Weber, Genevieve Lindberg, Mary Ann Kleespies, Adelaide Brumm; and brothers, Edward, Herbert, and Albert
