Elsie Martha Bertha Felton, age 92, of Osage, formerly of Nora Springs, died on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at the Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 11, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage. Rev. Christian F. Gugel officiated. Interment was in the Park Cemetery, Nora Springs. The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, was in charge of the arrangements.

She was born on April 29, 1908 in Grafton, the daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth (Schilling) Schmidt, the last of ten children. Elsie was baptized and confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Grafton, by Rev. Landeck. She attended rural school in the Grafton area.

Elsie was united in marriage to Harvey Felton on October 2, 1938, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Osage, and to this union two children were born, Thomas and Marlene. Mr. and Mrs. Felton farmed for many years. They lived in Nora Springs while her husband was employed at Decker’s for 20 years. They retired in Osage in 1970. She entered the Faith Lutheran Home on December 14, 1999.

Elsie kept busy quilting, crocheting and tatting which she made for her nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harvey on June 13, 1983; a daughter in infancy; four brothers; and five sisters.

Those that survive her include one son, Tom Felton of Lady Lake, Florida; two grandsons, Bradley Felton and wife, Brandi of Clarksville, Texas and their children, Matt and Emma and Jason Felton of Cedar Rapids; one granddaughter, Kim McDonald of Mason City and her daughters, Tara and Hailee; and many nieces and nephews.

OSAGE, IOWA - Elsie Martha Bertha Felton, 92, formerly of Nora Spring, died Saturday (April 7, 2001) at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Christian F. Gugel officiating. Interment will be at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday at Park Cemetery in Nora Springs.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home and will continue one hour before the services at the church.

Elsie was born April 29, 1908, near Grafton, the daughter of Alfred and Elizabeth (Schilling) Schmidt, she was the last of 10 children. Elsie was baptized and confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton by the Rev. Landeck. She attended rural school in the Grafton area.
