Wilfred J. Schrandt Funeral March 30, 2002

Funeral services for Wilfred J. Schrandt, 85, who died Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, were held Saturday, March 30 at Visitation Church.

Wilfred was born September 1, 1916 to William A. and Julia Moser Schrandt. He graduated from Visitation High School and attended Loras College, Dubuque for one year. He worked in Fort Dodge and Des Moines until entering the Army. Following basic training he trained in Ireland and then to North Africa and Italy where he served as a medic. After his discharge he began working at the Stacyville Savings Bank until his retirement after 40 years.

He was a member of the Hale Penney Fuller Posy of the American Legion serving as finance officer, Catholic Order of Foresters and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was the first chairman of the Mitchell County Conservation Board, serving for 20 years.

Wilfred is survived by his wife, Rita, two sons, Richard and wife Susan of Caldwell, Idaho, and Charles and wife Beverly of South St. Paul, Minnesota; two daughters, Virginia Schrandt, Stacyville Nursing Home, and Marie and husband Kelly Hendrix of Caldwell; seven grandchildren, Christian and Michael Schrandt, Krista Naymik, Kara and Nathan Schrandt and Allison and Claire Hendrix,; two sisters, Rose Klapperich and Mrs. Clem (Alvina) Theobald of Stacyville, and one brother Robert of Los Alamo, New Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lawrence, Leander, Mike and Edwin; two sisters, Connie Pitzen and Minnie Anderson.

Burial was in Visitation Cemetery. Pallbearers were his grandchildren, Christian and Michael Schrandt, Nathan Schrandt, Krista Naymik, Allison and Claire Hendrix.
