OSAGE, IOWA - Dorothy Heffron Lines, age 81, of Osage died of a stroke Friday (Jan. 30, 2009) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.
A celebration of life for Dorothy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with the Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Dorothy was born June 11, 1927, in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Thelma (Hanson) Paulus. She attended school in Charles City and worked at National Tea until her marriage to Dean Heffron on June 19, 1946. They made their home in Osage until Dean's death in 1983. Dorothy worked as office manager for the Co-op Oil Co. in Osage for 30 years, and after her retirement did part-time bookkeeping for B&J Auto in Mason City.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Maurice Lines on Sept. 27, 1985. They lived in Marble Rock until Maurice's death in 2004. She returned to Osage in 2005. Dorothy loved to sew, do needlepoint, baking, gardening, canning and working at the Osage Food Bank. Many of us will miss her treats.
Dorothy is survived by daughters, Deb Jacobs, Cherie (James "Red") Merritt and Julie (Larry) Ackley, all of Osage; grandchildren, Todd Krones, Christy and Josh Willis, Shawn and Alison Newhouse, Trisha and Jayme Sedars, Eric and Andrew Young, Savanna and Kevin Lane; great-grandchildren, Brooke and Brady Willis, Payton and Cole Newhouse, Micah and Taylor Sedars and Lorali and Colin Lane; and several other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Kathy McCready; brother, Donald Paulus; sister, Eileen and husband; Emil Zimmerman; niece, Janet Trainer, nephew, Mike Paulus; son-in-law, Charles Jacobs.
Arrangements are by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, 641-732-3706.
