OSAGE, IOWA - Frankie Phearman, age 93, of Osage, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002 , at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 , at the United Church of Christ in Osage, with the Rev. Robert Melhorn officiating. Interment will be in the Osage Cemetery in Osage.

Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002 , at the Champion - Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage. Visitation will continue one hour before services at the church on Thursday.

Frankie was born on Oct. 27, 1909, in Marion County, Iowa, the daughter of Grover and Jessie (McCoy) Carter. She graduated from Runnells High School in Runnells, in 1927. Frankie then received her teaching degree from Simpson College in 1932. She was united in marriage to Roy Phearman on Aug. 20, 1932 , at the home of her grandparents in Marion County who raised her after the age of eight. Frankie started teaching in rural country schools in Iowa , then taught in Rudd, and retired from Osage Community Schools where she taught for several years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Osage, Rebekah's, Wa-Tan-Ye, Mitchell County Hospital Auxiliary, Floyd County Retired Teachers, and U.C.T. in Mason City . Frankie's family was very important to her and especially her grandchildren. She also liked tatting, quilting, and sewing.

She is survived by two sons: Larry Phearman and his wife Catherine of Mason City and Lee Phearman and his wife Sharon of Charles City; seven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, her husband Roy in 1974, and her sister, Hazel Allene Rhinehart

Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage is in charge of arrangements.
