a.k.a. Helmer C. Hanson

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon of this week at 2: o'clock from the First Lutheran Church for Helmer Hanson, age 57, who died at his home, 622 Maryland Ave., Mason City, Iowa, at 8:15 o'clock Sunday [March 5, 1939] evening following an illness of several months. He had been in failing health for the past three years and had been confined to his bed since October 16, 1938.

Carl Helmer Hanson was born November 28, 1881 in Denmark, the son of Rasmus P. and Caroline B. Hansen. He came to this country with his parents at the age of four years. He was confirmed in the St. Ansgar Lutheran [First Lutheran] Church, by the Rev. Sigirrid Olson.

On Dec. 3, 1902 he was married to Mina Johnson, the daughter of Martin Johnson Nesset and Bertha Gunderson Nesset. To this union four children were born, two boys and two girls, of which three have preceded him in death.

Surviving Mr. Hanson are his wife, Mina, and one son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hanson; and one grandchild. Four brothers, Andrew, Ernest and Alfred Hanson of St. Ansgar, Iowa, and Fred Hanson of Minneapolis also survive him.

Rev. Olaf A. Langehough was in charge of the services. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery [a.k.a. First Lutheran Cemetery].
