Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Vedder, age 77, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial Hospital in Osage Thursday July 5, 1962 following an illness of three months, were held Saturday, July 7, 1962 at 2 P.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Carl Wuerffel officiating.
Emma Elizabeth Belz, daughter of the late August and Anna Kramer Belz was born September 18, 1885 in Newburg Township near Carpenter, Iowa. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in infancy and confirmed March 26, 1899 in the Grafton Lutheran church by the Rev. John Landeck.
On March 18, 1911 she was united in marriage to Frederick Vedder of Hankinson, North Dakota in Grafton by the Rev. John Landeck. After residing on a farm near Hankinson for eleven years they moved to St. Ansgar where she made her home until the time of her death. On March 19, 1961 they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in the church. Mrs. Vedder was an honorary member of the Ladies Aid, also an active member of the Carpenter Cemetery Association.
She is survived by her husband Fred, one son, Wilmer of Austin, Minnesota, four grandchildren: Wayne, Donna, Arlyn and Ellen Vedder and many other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Vedder was preceded in death by two daughters, one son, her parents. two sisters and four brothers.
Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery with Rev. Wuerffel in charge of the committal services.
