Lawrence William Klapperich, age 93, of Stacyville, Mitchell county, Iowa, died Wednesday December 17, 2008 at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Sacred Heart Oratory, Meyer, Iowa with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Meyer, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, December 19, 2008 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m.

Lawrence was born July 23, 1915 at his home in Meyer to Bernard and Rosa Klapperich. He attended school in Meyer. He served in the US Army from April 1941 to November 1945. On January 23, 1946 he married Esther Halbach at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. They celebrated 62 years of marriage. Lawrence farmed most of his years, and was also employed as salesman for Theobald Implement in Stacyville. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and a member of Hale Penney Fuller Post 569 of the American Legion in Stacyville.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Judy, son Barry and his daughter Julie, his parents, five brothers; John, Isidor, Fred, Leo and Wilfred, one sister Hildegarde Halbach.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Esther, son Owen (Linda), daughter Rosalie (David) Schubert; son Reid (Barbara), daughter-in-law Beverly Klapperich, daughter Dorette (Leonard) Fravel, nine grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Norbert and Carl of Stacyville, one sister Mary Elizabeth of Greendale, Wisconsin.
