Our departed sister, Agnes Louise Marcks nee Erdman, was born on the 10th day of April, 1886, in Newburg township, Mitchell county, Iowa. [Her father was Carl Erdman, and her mother was Emilie Jentz.]

Soon after her birth she was made a child of God by holy baptism. When she attained the proper age she received instruction in God's Word and was confirmed on the 8th day of April 1900.

The days of her childhood and her youth were spent in the parental home.

On November 3, 1909, she entered holy wedlock with Mr. August [Ferdinand Ernst] Marcks. Four children were born to this union, but to the great sorrow of the parents all were stillborn. This indeed was a great affliction, but despite this great sorrow her married life was an exceptionally happy one.

Mrs. Marcks enjoyed good health at all times until last December when an ailment, which was considered a minor illness, afflicted her. This attack of illness occurred again twice during the winter months, and again on Saturday, May 1st, at 3 o'clock in the morning when, with a cry, she departed this life. Her age was 40 years and 21 days.

She was a member of this congregation during her life time, consequently remained faithful to teachings of the Word of God, in which she placed her trust at all times.

Those left to mourn her sudden death are two brothers, Emil and Otto Erdman, thre sisters: Martha Erdman, Mrs. Helen Hollatz, and Mrs. Emilie Schmidt, and above all others her grief-stricken husband.

May she now stand before her master, who called her on Saturday monring to leave her earthly treasures, joys and dear ones, and see Him face to face....
