Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at St. John's Rock Creek Lutheran Church [see note] for Mrs. Benny Ballandby, the former Dorothy Kroneman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kroneman. The Rev. F. Ide conducted the service.
Dorothy Kroneman Ballandby was born on May 21, 1922 in Rock Township, Mitchell County, Iowa. [The daughter of Arthur Walther Franz and Theresa Laura Elise Kirchgatter Kroneman.] She was baptized on June 25, 1922 by Rev. J. Gamaelich, and having been instructed, was confirmed on March 21, 1937 by Pastor Christian Kumph in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church. She attended high school at St. Ansgar, Iowa, graduating in May of 1941.
On the 17th of May 1943 she entered the service of her country in the department of Naval communications. She was honorably discharged on November 24, 1945.
She was married to Benny Ballandby of Northwood, Iowa on November 24, 1946. The Rev. F. Ide performed the ceremony. Two children were born to this union; a son, Lane Allen and a daughter, Dorothy Lana Marie.
Mrs. Ballandby had been confined at Mercy hospital at Mason City, following the birth of her daughter and seemed to be recovering satisfactorily. She went home on Tuesday evening and the following day, Wednesday, February 22, 1950, died suddenly, shortly before noon. She reached the age of 27 years, 9 months and 1 day.
She is survived by her husband, her two children, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur W. Kroneman; three sisters: Wanda, Margaret (Mrs. [Roy] Koschmeder), of Osage, and Irene, one brother, Raymond; and many other relatives and friends.
There is no doubt she will be sadly missed, but we believe God's word whe He said: "Blessed are the dead which died in the Lord from henceforth; Yea saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors; and their works doth follow them." Rev. 14:13.
