OSAGE, IOWA - Lillian McCarthy, age 94, of Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa, and formerly of Riceville, Iowa, died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with the Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska, at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage and will continue one hour before services at the funeral home.

Lillian was born on December 6, 1914, at Tomah, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Emma (Burkhalter) Schneeberger. She married Thomas McCarthy Jr. on July 20, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois. They lived in Chicago until moving to Riceville in 1950, where Lillian was a homemaker and worked as a beautician.

In 1961, they moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where she was employed as an aide in a hospital baby nursery. Lillian returned to Riceville in 1985, and moved to Osage in 2004. She was a member of the UCC Church in Riceville. Lillian enjoyed reading, writing letters and spending time with her family.

Lillian is survived by three daughters, Susan (Tyrone) Hill of Winona, Minnesota, Nancy (Keith) Johnson of Osage, and Marilyn (Bill) Kay of Gwinn, Michigan; a son, James (Jane) McCarthy of San Diego, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas McCarthy Jr., in 1982; a brother, Rudy; a grandson, Kyle Wyatt; and a great-grandson, Jim Shane.
