RICEVILLE — Patricia “Patty” Ione Bodenham, 92, of Riceville, died Sunday (June 10, 2007) at the Riceville Community Rest Home in Riceville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Riceville, with the Rev. Gale Richards officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, (Mitchell county), Riceville.

Vistation will be held from 4-7 p.m. at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville on Tuesday, June 12, and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church.

RICEVILLE — Patricia Ione “Patty” Bodenham, 92, of Riceville, passed away Sunday (June 10, 2007) at the Riceville Community Rest Home in Riceville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Riceville, with the Rev. Gale Richards, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Riceville [Mitchell county].

Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. today, June 12, 2007, at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in Riceville, and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church.

Patricia Ione Hendricks was born on June 10, 1915, to James Bernard (J.B.) Hendricks and Zelma Patch Hendricks at Riceville. She grew up on the family farm Northeast of Riceville, attended Round Grove (Jamestown No. 2) School and graduated from Riceville High School in 1930. She married Hal Bodenham on June 11, 1933, at her parents’ home. The minister was the Rev. Edward Bodenham, Hal’s father.

She and Hal farmed for many years, moving North of Riceville in 1942. They moved to town in 1969. After the move, Patty worked at the Jennison Inn and for Bea and “Smitty” at the Riceville Recorder for over 20 years. She was a longtime member of the Baptist Church until it closed, then the Congregational Church. She served on the Board of Directors for the Riceville Rest Home from the beginning until retiring in 1997.

She is survived by her son, Jim Bodenham, of Riceville; two grandsons: Curt Bodenham, of Vermillion, S.D., and John (Dawn) Bodenham, of Mount Pleasant; two great-grandsons, Adam and Aaron Bodenham, of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Bernadine Torney, of Boyleston, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Hal, in 1979; two sisters, Kathryn Christensen and Mary Curley; one brother, Jim Hendricks; and one granddaughter, Krista Bodenham.
