Funeral services for Mrs. Rene (Martha) Pattyn, 80, who died at the Mitchell County Memorial hospital May 1, 1979, were held on May 3, 1979 at the St. Ansgar Catholic church, St. Ansgar, Mitchell county, Iowa, with the Rev. John P. Smith, celebrant.

Martha Pattyn, daughter of Ivo and Alodie (Blondell) Lievrouw, was born May 30, 1898 in Denterghem, Belgium. She came to America in August of 1919, arriving in Austin, Minnesota.

On March 28, 1921 she was united in marriage to Rene Pattyn and they have spent their entire married, with the exception of several years living in Illinois, in the Mitchell County vicinity. Four daughters were born to this union.

Mrs. Pattyn was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Rene; four daughters, Mrs. Elmore (Evona) Sandberg of Robbinsdale, Minn.; Mrs. Jack (Mary) Vrell of Milan, Ill.; Mrs. Maurice (Leona) Kleckner of St. Ansgar; and Mrs. Kenneth (Irene) Michels of New Haven; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Vervrugge of Moline, Ill.; Mrs. Achiel (Sally) DeSmet of Rock Island, Ill.; four brothers, Dell Lievrouw of Osage; Morris and Oscar Lievrouw, Mitchell; Henry Lievrouw of St. Ansgar; 19 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Burial was in the St. Ansgar City Cemetery with Rev. John P. Smith in charge of the committal services.
