Mrs. Martha Jane Button was born to Barbara and Daniel Campfield in Jefferson County, Wis., Jan. 19, 1843. She was married to Sanford Button at LaCrosse, Wis., in 1870. They resided on a farm near LaCrosse for eight years, when they came to Mitchell county and settled on a farm near Riceville. Here they lived until 1896, when they came to Osage.
To this union six children were born, the husband and two children preceding her in death. She leaves to mourn four children; Charley on the farm near Riceville; Jesse Case at Osage; Sylvia Fuller and Alice Case at Clarissa, Minn.; fourteen grandchildren, four sisters and four brothers. Mrs. Button was patient and long suffering and passed away at her home Feb. 21, 1920. All of her children were with her in her last sickness.
Mrs. Button was for many years a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church and because physical infirmity prevented her attendance at the services she was on the roll at the Home department of the Sunday school, enjoying very much the literature furnished by that department.
Funeral services were conducted, Monday afternoon by Rev. L. C. Lemon and interment was in the Osage cemetery.
