OBITUARY--

Mrs. Mary Jane Wolff

On Wednesday of last week death entered a family circle and claimed the mother, Mrs. Mary Jane Wolff. Her death resulted from a complication of ailments but her illness was of short duration.

Mrs. Wolff was born Sept. 18, 1842, in Theresa, Delaware county, New York. She was a woman of many endearing qualities of heart and mind, a loving wife, a tender and thoughful mother, a devoted unselfish friend. Her life and death deserve more than a passing notice. Quiet, thoughtful and earnest, she lived a busy and anxious but not joyless life.

When twelve years of age her parents removed from New York to Canton, this state, residing there until she was twenty-two years of age when they came to Liberty in Mitchell county. At that time there was but one house between Osage and where the town of Little Cedar is now located. The only means of finding the way being by clumps of trees or large rocks marking the trail.

The seven children born to her remain to mourn the loss of a dear mother. They are: Mrs. Wanisheck of Onslow; Mrs. Propect, of Monmouth; Mrs. Roe, Mrs Roberts, Herbert and Jess Gilmore of this city, and Mrs. Hubbard of Austin, Minn.
Mrs Wolff was a consistent member of the Congregational church for many years and dearly prized the church priviliges and associations.

The funeral service was held from her late home Friday afternoon, and was conducted by the Rev. B. C. Prestor, who spoke from the text"I will give her the valley of Achor for a door of hope."

Though not a traditional believer, She had most profound faith, and was a fine type of the blessed women who "Do little kindness which most leave undone or despise. And naught that sets one's heart at ease; or giveth quietness or peace was low esteemed in her eyes."
