Carl Lorence, age 82, of Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at his home near Osage.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 20, 2008, at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church, 3269 Foothill Avenue, Osage, with Rev. R. Dawson Tornes officiating. There will be a time for lunch and fellowship at the church following the memorial service. Inurnment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Mitchell, Iowa.

Carl was born December 24, 1925, at Mitchell, the son of Anton and Anna (Mach) Lorence. He attended school in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School. Carl was united in marriage to Darlene Troge at St. John's Lutheran Church, Cedar Township, on August 30, 1953. They made their home in the Osage area, and have been at their present farm since 1964. Carl and Darlene spent the past 25 winters in Brownsville, Texas.

Carl is survived by his wife, Darlene Lorence of Osage; by his children, Diane (Ron)Thompson of Osage, Craig Lorence of Marshalltown, Debra Lorence of Gene Autry, Oklahoma; by a granddaughter, Heather Thompson of Osage; by a sister, Bessie Gunther of Osage; by a brother, Stanley (Elsie) Lorence of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; by a sister-in-law, Wilma Johnson of Osage; and by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by two brothers, Joseph and Clement Lorence; and by a sister, Mary Lorence.

The Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, is in charge of arrangements.
