WHITING – At his residence in this city Monday afternoon, May 2, 1881, of brain fever, Frank Whiting, in the 28th year of his age.

We know that a wide circle of acquaintance outside of family friends, will feel sad at reading the above announcement. Frank has grown up from boyhood in our midst and was liked by almost every one. He was a son of Mrs. J.G. Waltham, by a former marriage. For a number of years he has been engaged in the moulding room at the foundry here, but last fall, when they suspended operations, he sought and obtained employment at Minneapolis, where he remained until the latter part of the winter. Not feeling well, he returned home where he had an attack of pneumonia, followed later by brain fever, which terminated his earthly career.

Three or four years ago he was united in marriage to a daughter of Martin White, who with two small children, survive him.

The deceased was a member of the Masonic fraternity and also of the military company and both organizations turned out yesterday to escort the remains of their late companion to their last resting place in Osage cemetery. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. G.W. Brindell, and the church was crowded with, the sorrowing friends of the bereaved family. The funeral cortage was a solemn and imposing one – a fitting tribute to the young life so suddenly terminated at the very threshold of a useful manhood.

The PRESS extends its hearty sympathy to the friends and family of the deceased, praying that He who tempers the wind to the shorn lamb will blend their sorrow with gladness of the thought of a glorious reunion on the other shore.
