Obituary-Harrison
The reaper of death overtakes us and oftentimes without a moment's warning, and thus it came to Mr. William Harrison on last Monday morning, June 5, at his country home, where his life was suddenly cut down in a runaway.
He was born in Delaware county, Iowa, Nov. 8, 1854, and died at McIntire, Iowa, June 5, 1916, at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 5 days.
On December 22, 1879, he was married to Miss Millie Boylan. This union was blessed with three sons, Charlie, Arthur and Ralph, and one daughter, Mabel, all of whom were here at the time of his death, excepting Charlie, who was in Minneapolis; Mable being here visiting from Strawberry Point, and it being the home of Arthur and Ralph. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by three brothers, three sisters and three grandchildren, who will greatly mourn his loss.His sudden taking away was a terrrible blow to his family and especially to his companion.
McIntire had been the home of Mr. Harrison during most of his life and he was highly esteemed and respected by all who knew him.He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Modern Woodmen lodges and always had taken part in everything that was for the uplifting of the town and vicinity.
The funeral was held at his country home Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock conducted by Rev. C.C. Casper and interment was made in the Wayne cemetery, in charge of the Old Fellows.
Among those from away who came to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Harrison and daughter of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Mrs. Norden of Esterline, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Harrison, of Brainerd, Minn.; Mr. Rob. Allen and daughter, from Illinois; Miss Rose Viffan, of Monticello, Iowa, and Mrs. Nelson, of Taopi.
