Obituary-Aldrich
Marian Elmira Spaulding was born at Nashua, New Hampshire, April 25, 1843.
Lived with her parents at several places in New York, and came to Iowa in 1857, and settled at Floyd, Iowa. Came to Mitchell county in 1864. She was married to Myron Aldrich Nov. 24, 1882, after being a teacher in the public schools for perhaps forty years. Two children were born of this union, Nora now Mrs. John Crone, of Woden, Iowa; Ruth Edna, now Mrs. A. V. Page, of Park Rapids, Minnesota.
There are six grandchildren. One sister survives her, Mrs. Anna Dotham, of Fairfield, Wash. Mrs. Aldrich was a woman of deep religious convictions, and lived in close proximity to those convictions.
She was a diligent and faithful student of God's word, for which she had the deepest reverence, and a far-reaching comprehension not shared by us all.
She was an affectionate believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and in Him she trusted. She had an optimistic nature, and always saw the sunny side of things. The cloud must be very dark, indeed, in which she could see no rift of sunlight, and great indeed must be the depravity, in which she saw no good. In all the years of my acquaintance with her I never heard her speak ill of any one. A trait of character too little known in the world. She passed away December 19, strong in the faith in which she had lived.
Funeral services were held Thursday in the Congregational church, the Rev. O. M. Swearingen having charge. Interment at Oak Grove cemetery.
