Kenneth E. Lashbrook, age 90, of Osage, Mitchell County, Iowa, died on Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at the Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at the United Church of Christ in Osage. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery with military honors at the grave by Osage American Legion Post 278.

Kenneth was born on June 27, 1917, at Osage, the son of G. O. and Nettie Mae (Millard) Lashbrook. Kenneth attended school in Osage and graduated in 1934. He attended one year at Waldorf College in Forest City.

He married Mildred Jorgensen on August 18, 1940, in Riceville. He worked at his father's drug store until 1943, and then enlisted in the Navy as a pharmacist mate. He was discharged on Christmas Day in 1945 and returned to Osage where he was employed by the Osage Post Office until retiring as Postmaster in 1979.

Kenneth was active in the Congregational Church, acting as treasurer for 23 years and as church custodian for five years. He was very active in Kiwanis and the American Legion. He was kept busy for many years doing woodworking, attending senior citizens, delivering Meals on Wheels and was always reading.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Mildred Lashbrook of Osage; by a daughter, Ann (Ed) Latham of Duncombe; by two sons, Kenneth G. (Marcia) Lashbrook of Cedar Rapids, Rev. Steven J. (Laurie) Lashbrook of Manistee, Michigan; by eight grandchildren; by two great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Bethel Durby of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Dean; and by a granddaughter, Kelly Ann Pilcher.
