AUSTIN, MINN. -- The funeral for Richard L. Koster was held on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, with the Revs. Dennis Tamke and Richard Hegal officiating.
Dick Koster, age 60, of Austin, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2007, at his home.
Richard Louis Koster was born on December 10, 1947, in Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa. He attended St. Ansgar (Iowa) Elementary School and graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1966.
He married Darlene Gabrielson in 1967; they were later divorced. Mr. Koster served in the Army from 1968 to 1970, during the Vietnam War.
In 1971 he married Leola Nielsen; she preceded him in death in 1991. He worked various jobs until 1985, when he began work at Quality Pork Processors in the hog kill. A former member of First United Methodist Church, he belonged to the VFW, American Legion and the Eagles Club.
Survivors include three children, DeeDee Theisen of Texas, Christopher (Marilyn) Koster of Blooming Prairie and Wendy Koster of Austin; six grandchildren; four siblings, Connie Trihus, Rodney (Tess) Koster, and Scott (Julie) Easton, all of Blooming Prairie, and Rita (David) Braaten of Owatonna; his stepfather, Allen Michaelson of Blooming Prairie; his companion of 17 years, Barbara Molland of Austin, her children, Christie (Dennis) Fox and Kimberly (Ron) Hansen, and her two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his second wife; his parents, Marlin and Marjorie (Loew) Koster; and a brother, Ronald.
The Worlein Funeral Home in Austin, was in charge of arrangements.
American Legion Post 91 provided military honors.
