Military rites for Lavon Duncan of Ankeny, Iowa, were conducted by an Honor Guard from Offutt Air Force Base, Omaha, Nebraska, at the Rock Creek Cemetery on August 27, 2007. He died on August 13, 2007.

Lavon was born on February 1, 1920. He grew up in Osage, Iowa, and attended Osage public school. He was a 20-year Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving 12 years in Germany. He retired as Staff Sergeant.

He is survived by a sister, Ardel Denning; by a sister-in-law, Karen Duncan, by a niece, Janelle Duncan, and by a nephew, Jim Duncan.

He was preceded in death by his wife; by his Mother Emma Hegg; by his step father Albert Hegg; by a brother, Wendell Duncan, and by a nephew, Douglas Duncan.
