A Mass of Christian Burial for Urban L. Brumm, age 86, of Stacyville, Iowa, was held on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at the Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial was in the Visitation Catholic Cemetery in Stacyville.
Urban died on Saturday May 19, 2007, at the Stacyville Community Nursing Home in Stacyville.
Urban was born on February 10, 1921, in Stacyville, to John E. and Anna M. (Simon) Brumm. He was baptized at Visitation Catholic Church and attended school at Visitation Schools, graduating in 1938.
He married Evelyn Mueller on his 21st birthday, February 10, 1942, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer. After their marriage they farmed together in the Stacyville area, retiring in 1984. They moved into Stacyville in 1989. He was a member of Visitation Catholic Church and the National Catholic Order of Foresters.
Urban is survived by his five children: Elaine (James) Havlovic of Stacyville, Kenneth (Judy) Brumm of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Vernon Brumm of Mason City, Iowa, Audrey (Roy) Stefan of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Jean Brumm of Osage, Iowa; by 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eight great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, one step-great-granddaughter; three sisters-in-law: Mary Brumm of Stacyville, Avis Brumm of Crescent City, Cal Luella Brumm of Washington State; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Evelyn (on March 16, 2003); by a daughter-in-law, Donna Brumm; by four brothers: Delphin Brumm, Morris Brumm, Francis Brumm and Julius Brumm; by five sisters: Agnes Theobald, Sister Angeline Brumm, Barbara Kula, Magdalen Royer and Clara Burrill.
Arrangements were made by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.
