AUSTIN, MINN. -- Kenneth Buford Hays, age 67, of Rochester, Minnesota, died Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at his home.
He was born July 29, 1939, in Austin, Minnesota, to William and Mildred (Taylor) Hays.
Kenneth graduated from Lyle Public Schools in 1957. On Sept. 11, 1960, he married Joyce Bridgeman in Osage, Iowa. In addition to being a foster parent for 31 years, Kenneth worked at Hormel for 13 years and Olmsted County for six years.
Kenneth was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 4H, and the Eagles. Kenneth was also a life-long wood worker.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Joyce Hays, Rochester; by his sons: John Hays, Austin; Dean Hays, Rochester; Kevin Hays, Rochester; by his daughter, Julie (Bruce) Newell, Rochester; by several grandchildren; by his mother, Mildred Hays, Austin; and by many foster children.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Buford Hays; and his brother, Thomas Hays.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 19, 2007, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Michael Olmsted officiating. Interment was in the Grandview Cemetery in Austin.
The Clasen-Jordan Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
