A Mass of Christian Burial for Albert Vols, age 85, of Charles City, and formerly of Orchard, Iowa, will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, Iowa, with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Osage, with a flag presentation by the Orchard American Legion Post 641.

He died on Monday, April 23, 2007, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City, Iowa.

Albert was born on October 17, 1921, on the family farm near Orchard, the son of Bruno and Emma (DeClark) Vols. Albert graduated from Orchard High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded two bronze Battle Stars, after which he returned and farmed the family farm. Albert moved to Charles City in the late 1990's. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage, Mitchell County, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Albert is survived by his cousins, Raymond (Elza "Elsie") Vols of Moline, Illinois, Robert Vols also of Moline, Illinois; by a special friend, Veronica Ballard of Floyd, and by her family, Barbara (John) Pint of Mitchell, Iowa, Bonnie (Larry) Pint of Osage, Linda (David) Hennagir of Griffith, Indiana, and Brenda Ballard of Greene, Iowa.

Arrangements are by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, (641) 732-3706.
