Funeral services for Elaine N. West, age 71, of Riceville, Iowa, will be held at on Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage, Iowa, with Pastor Michael Parris officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Cemetery. Elaine died Friday, February 9, 2007, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center-Emergency Room, in Osage.

Elaine was born May 17, 1935, in Rolfe, Iowa, the daughter of Vernet and Mildred (Nielsen) Johnson. She graduated from Riceville High School in 1955. Elaine lived in Mason City for close to 30 years. On July 8, 1984, Elaine was united in marriage to Donald West. They made their home in Mitchell for 16 years. Donald passed away in 2001. Elaine lived in Riceville for the past seven years. Elaine's faith was a very important part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Donald West; and by two brothers, Lawrence Johnson and Herbert Johnson.

Elaine is survived by her son, Benny Starr of Elma, Iowa; three sisters: Dolores (Dick) House of Anchorage, Alaska, Ilalee (Donald) Fjetland of Riceville, Ivadel Fjetland of Riceville; and many nieces and nephews.
