Funeral services for Roger Schnell, age 80, of Osage, Iowa, were held on Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Osage, with Rev. Dr. J. Samuel Subramanian officiating. Burial was in the Osage Cemetery, with Military Honors by Osage American Legion Post 278. Roger died Friday, Nov. 24, 2006, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.

Roger was born April 3, 1926 in Arco, Minnesota, the son of Alvin and Alvina (Abraham) Schnell. He graduated from Tyler High School at Tyler, Minn. in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Roger moved to Osage in 1962 and was employed by the Osage Municipal Utilities, retiring as the line foreman in 1989.

Roger married Mary Ann North on August 27, 1965, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Roger was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage and the American Legion Post 278, where he was a past Post Commander and a member of the Post Memorial Squad.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, by one sister, and by three brothers.

Roger is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Schnell of Osage; by a daughter, Mindy Faas of Osage; by three sons, Mark North of Ames, Mick North of Little Cedar; Monte North of Osage; by a sister, Yvonne Hooven of Tyler, Minn; and by ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
