NEIS, William "Willie" 1917-2006

A Mass of Christian Burial for William "Willie" Neis, age 89, of Osage, Iowa, was held on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville, Iowa, with Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial was at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Osage. Willie died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center-Emergency Room in Osage.

Willie was born September 15, 1917, on a farm near Stacyville, the son of Ferdinand and Augusta (Blake) Neis. On August 7, 1946, he married Irene Faas in Stacyville. Willie drove a road grader for the Mitchell County Highway Dept. Following his retirement, Willie enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, and being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Irene in 1995; an infant son Richard; a daughter Beverly White; a daughter-in-law Satoe Neis; a grandson Rodney White; two sisters, Angie Brumm and Agnes Brumm; an infant brother Robert; and three brothers-in-law, Frank Hoffman, Ralph McDowell and Bud Miller.

Willie is survived by three sons, Robert (Myrna) Neis of Mason City, Dennis Neis of Tripoli, and Michael (Carolyn) Neis of Osage; five sisters, Adelaide (Lloyd) Counsell of Osage, Rosanna Miller of Rudd, Frances Hoffman of Sun City, Calif., Betty Jane (Dick) Conger of Sequim, Wash., and Arlene Rogers of Arizona; a brother, Joseph (Imelda) Neis of Minneapolis, Minn.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were made by Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home, Osage, Iowa
