BLAINE, MINN. — Christopher Lee Shanahan, 46, of Blaine, Minn. and formerly of Osage, Iowa, died in late September 2006, while on a fishing trip on Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota. Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2006, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Osage with the Rev. Dennis Hanson officiating. Inurnment was in the Little Cedar Cemetery. Following the services, a time of fellowship took place at the home of Jeff and Jayne Olsen, 1945 Lime Kiln Road, Osage.
Chris was born October 17, 1959, in Osage, Iowa, the son of Carol (Hill) Shanahan and Michael J. Shanahan. Chris graduated from Osage High School in 1978, and attended the University of Northern Iowa and the University of Iowa. He was a self-employed carpenter and an avid sportsman. Though his death was untimely, Chris's family and friends find solace in knowing that he died doing what he loved best.
Chris is survived by his mother, Carol Shanahan, formerly of Osage, and now of Jacksonville, N.C., and his father, Michael J. Shanahan.
He is also survived by his brother, Michael and wife Kelly, and their children Casey and Lindsay of Jacksonville, N.C., and Michael Shanahan of Davenport; a special friend, Connie Beck, and children Stephanie and Nicholas of Blaine, Minn.; an uncle, Ronald Hill; aunts, Kay Hill and Sandra Bower; cousins Kent, Brad, and Richard Balsley; and cousins, Jayne Olsen, Ginger Hanson, and Sandy Lang.
